WHO ARE THE LIONS?



Lions Clubs International is a global organisation. It is the largest charitable organisation in terms of number of members with almost 1.5 million members belonging to 42,500 lions clubs in over 178 countries: it is apolitical and non – religious. Each club has a responsibility for raising and distributing funds within its community for the benefit of those in need, support of the elderly and other special causes, and the development of youth.


The cumulative donations from the thousands of clubs around the world empower Lions Clubs International to tackle relief of major disasters in a meaningful way. Most notably in recent times was the speed with which Lions were making a vital contribution to the relief of those affected by the Tsunami? With the backing of Lions International, Lions Clubs in Sri Lanka were handing out tents, food and water the day after the disaster!

Since 1980 Surrey Border Lions have organised events in order raise money for good causes in our three Villages of Bagshot, Lightwater and Windlesham. Surrey Border Lions acts locally on “its own patch” just like the hundreds of other clubs in Britain and overseas.
